Welcome to Waikato Water Polo and thanks for showing an interest in joining us.
Waikato Water Polo has teams across the whole spectrum of ages and interests, from U12’s to U21’s and Men’s & Women’s teams in the National League. We cater to all skill and interest levels, we have a strong coaching structure and have a particular focus on ensuring all our members have great fundamental skills to build their playing style from.
U12’s enter up to 4 tournaments a year including the NZWP Tournament of Olympic Hopefuls (which, in 2021, are being held in Hamilton at Waterworld in September). Training is normally in small groups from 9:00am – 12:00am on Sundays.
U14’s we enter National Competitions in both A (competitive) and B (development) grades. We also attend the various U14 development tournaments to give players lots of games to work on and develop their skills and teamwork.
U16’s/U18’s we enter National Competitions with competitive teams.
WOMEN’S and MEN’s We also cater for Men and Women and enter teams in the National League in the second-tier competition, although in 2021 one of our Men’s team won promotion into the Tier 1 competition (beating the Waitakere Men in a 3 game promotion-relegation series), so we need more players for 2022 if we are going to take up the spot and compete at that level.
We also have our internal Club competition in Term 2 each year, which provides for a fun, social environment to make new friends and work on skills in a less competitive team based environment.
So if you would like to know more, please fill in the registration form. You will be contacted and invited to attend trainings. We normally allow you to attend up to 3 trainings for free so that you can decide if you want to join a squad.
